“Virat Kohli will have to stay till the end otherwise RCB…”: Bengaluru warned ahead of match vs Rajasthan Royals

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are unbeaten in away matches with five wins from as many contests. However, they haven’t opened their account at home, losing three consecutive games. Rajat Patidar-led franchise will face the Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on April 24. RR are 8th in the points table with just two wins from 8 matches. Bengaluru will have to be careful against the rival team as they are lacking across departments when it comes to home games. The batters have failed while the fielders are dropping catches and conceding extra runs. The bowling unit lacks consistency.

The pitch has also played a part in the downfall of RCB as it is no longer a batting paradise, and the bowlers are getting enough purchase. RCB batters like to play attacking shots, and their tendency to take on the bowlers without spending time in the middle has been behind their defeats.

Ambati Rayudu has come up with a suggestion for the Bengaluru-based team. He feels one of the batters will have to play the anchor’s role, and Virat Kohli is best suited for the job.

“Virat Kohli will have to anchor the innings as the ball stops and bounces a bit. Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma can play around Virat Kohli. One batter will have to stay till the end; otherwise, RCB will post another below-par total at home. Virat will have to play that role as batting will not be easy,” Ambati Rayudu said.

Kohli is in the 8th spot in the list of the leading run-scorers in the ongoing edition. In 8 matches, the 36-year-old has amassed 322 runs at an average of 64.40 and a strike rate of 140.00.
