Wasim Akram is currently in Australia as a commentator for the ongoing white-ball matches between the hosts and Pakistan. He recently shared a story about paying 1,000 Australian dollars (approximately INR 55, OOO) for a cat’s haircut. Reacting to the bill, he said that 200 cats can be groomed in Pakistan with the same amount of money.
He spoke about the incident during one of the matches in the one-day series. In a viral video, Akram can be heard giving details of his cat’s haircut.
“My cat had a haircut yesterday, and I had to pay 1000 Australian dollars for it. They sedated the cat and kept the pet with them. They also gave food to her. I said about 200 cats in Pakistan can get a haircut with this money,” he said.
Akram provided the breakdown of the bill during the game:
105 AUD for a medical check-up
305 AUD for anaesthesia to safely sedate the cat
40 AUD for the actual haircut
120 AUD for post-procedure care
251 AUD for a cardio test
Pakistan recently defeated Australia 2-1 in the three-match ODI series, their first over the rivals in 22 years. Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf restricted the Aussies to 140 runs and won the game by 8 wickets to lift the trophy.
Akram took to social media to laud the Men in Green for their effort. “Beating the World ODI Champions in a series is a big achievement. This win will give huge confidence to the players, the new captain Rizwan, the cricket board, and, most importantly, the fans.”
Rauf was named the Player of the Series for picking 10 wickets at an average of 12.00 in three contests.
