According to BCCI sources, it has come to light that Gautam Gambhir had already decided to end the team’s ‘star culture’. A source said, “The Gautam Gambhir era has now begun. He had clearly stated that India needs fresh faces for the new cycle of the World Test Championship. Everyone in the team management was aware of Gambhir’s thoughts regarding the future of senior players in the Test format. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar also agreed with him.”
