Royal Challengers Bangalore men’s team gave a Guard of Honour to the RCB women’s team for winning the Women’s Premier League trophy. During the unboxing event ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024, Smriti Mandhana-led arrived in Bengaluru and met the men’s players.
RCB defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in the final of the WPL 2024. The Bangalore-based franchise dismissed DC for 113 runs and completed the chase in 19.3 overs in hands. Earlier, RCB defeated mighty Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator by 5 runs.
Smriti, who led from the front, spoke to Virat Kohli after the match but couldn’t hear what he said due to the noise. She had promised to meet him in Bengaluru.
She also refused to accept the comparison between her and Kohli. “He is an inspiration for me. The comparison is not right. He has achieved a lot in his career and continues to guide cricketers,” she said.
RCB will leave for Chennai to play their opening match against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings on March 22. RCB recently welcomed Virat, who returned from London after months.
He missed the five-match Test series against England to be with Anushka Sharma, who gave birth to their second child, Akaay.
Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the history of the Indian Premier League. He has scored over 7000 runs and is still going strong.
