India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with the way his players responded in the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. The hosts defeated the visiting team by 7 wickets to clinch the series 2-0. Despite the availability of less overs, India managed to outclassed Bangladesh.
Only 35 overs were bowled on Day 1 due to rain. The play was called off on Day 2 and Day 3 because of downpour and wet field.
Bangladesh were 107/3 on the first day and when the play resumed on Day 4, the draw was the only result possible. However, India had another ideas. They not only dismissed Bangladesh for 233 but also posted 285/9 in just 34.4 overs.
Bangladesh lost two quick wickets in their second innings. India returned on Day 5 with a clear and clever plan. They restricted Bangladesh to 146 and completed 95-run target in a short span of time.
Yashasvi Jaiswal hit two consecutive fifties and there were vital contributions from the bowlers as well.
“The game was not easy for us as we lost a lot of time due to rain. However, we wanted to win and when the bowlers dismissed Bangladesh on Day 4, the batters went out with an aggressive mindset.
“We took a big risk as there was a chance of us getting bowled out for 100 or 150. We were ready for that as our focus was on winning the game,” Rohit Sharma said on Jio Cinema.
India will now face New Zealand in three Tests at home.
