Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batters have been unstoppable since the last season of the Indian Premier League. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Nitish Kumar Reddy were magnificent in 2024, and now the addition of Ishan Kishan has made this franchise even more dangerous. In their first game of the season against Rajasthan Royals, the runners-up of the 17th season once again dominated the rival bowlers. The Orange Army posted 286/6, with their top six batters registering a strike rate of 200 or above.
Ishan scored an unbeaten 106 runs off 47 balls, while Travis Head amassed 67 runs off 31 deliveries. Abhishek (24), Heinrich (34), Nitish (30) and Aniket Verma (7) batted aggressively. Despite the best efforts of their willow holders, RR managed 242/6 and lost the match by 44 runs.
Former India player Aakash Chopra spoke about SRH a day before their game against Lucknow Super Giants on March 27.
“‘Who plays like that? SRH uploaded a video about the strike rates of their batters, and not even one had an SR of below 200. They all were touching the 200 mark. The best thing for LSG would be to win the toss and bat first.
“They should post runs on the board and put SRH under pressure. This is the only way you can test them because if they bat first, they will not give you a chance,” he said on Star Sports.
