“You don’t want to face Mumbai Indians”: Mohammad Kaif gives eliminator warning to Gujarat Titans after crushing defeat

Gujarat Titans’ defeat to Lucknow Super Giants has impacted their chances of finishing among the top two teams in the Indian Premier League 2025. The No.1 and No.2 franchises get two chances of making it to the final. The team losing Qualifier 1 is not eliminated and gets to compete against the winner of the contest (Eliminator) between the third and fourth-placed units.

However, if Gujarat fail to end the league stage in the number one or two position, it could break their momentum and put them against the high-flying Mumbai Indians, who are looking invincible at the moment. Mumbai have booked their place in the next round, but they have a marginal chance of topping the table or occupying the second place.

If Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings win their next two matches, the Titans will face the five-time champions in the Eliminator. On the other hand, if GT lose their last clash and RCB and PBKS also end up conceding their one game, they could still be above the Shubham Gill-led side if they register victories in just one of their remaining matches out of two.

Mohammad Kaif has warned GT of elimination from the playoffs if they turn up against the Mumbai Indians.

“You don’t want to face Mumbai Indians as they can beat you because of the type of form they are in at the moment. GT have put themselves under pressure and now they will hope that RCB and PBKS lose their next matches bcz of they win the remaining two contests, GT will face MI,” Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports.

“Even if Gujarat win their last match, their fate is not in their hands,” he added.
